Social Marketing Not Only Attracts New Prospects, But Helps Build Relationships

Social marketing is fast becoming one of the most important marketing tools you can use. Web 2.0, as it is also called, is very effective in helping you to stay in front of prospects in a relaxed, non-sales oriented environment.

If you don't know what I'm talking about...grab the nearest teenager. They are pros. Two thirds of all the people that use the internet use MySpace. Two thirds! And there are other sites like Facebook popping up all the time, many of them niche groups which may fit right in with your particular interests and business offerings.

The advantage, of course, is being able to meet and interact with a great many people within your target market. I know this to be true, as I have watched my daughter using YouTube and MySpace exclusively to promote her soon-to-be-released CD. She has put together quite the marketing plan using these tools and is having incredible success (2000 ready to buy fans in two months!).

Venues include using video, bookmarking articles of interest, and becoming a member of sites like Digg and Hub pages to swap interesting articles. The only disadvantage I can see is the time factor. It is easy to get lost in discussions, or reading the articles others write or recommend. If you are getting a business started, time is not something you can afford to waste.

Set aside a few minutes a day to visit your social sites and respond to comments, support the work of others, and post your own writings. Your pages will go up in the search engine rankings and even more people will be able to find you. Just keep an eye on the clock!

While I can't provide the detailed help you can get at Renegade University, I will address some of the major sites and how you can use them in your business.
